I took a chance on getting last minute tickets to see Rufus Wainwright tonight at UC Santa Barbara's Campbell Hall. This is the opening event for Campbell Hall and the UCSB arts and lectures series for this year.
Guess what? I got a front row seat. And yes, he is cuter in real life. He came out onto the stage wearing a pin stripe gray suit decorated with sparkling stars and a silver sparkling scars. But the Santa Barbara touch had to be a brown leather sandals.
Rufus correctly identified the Santa Barbara mentality as that of dreamers. His self proclaimed distraction was the work out he enjoyed at UCSB gymnasium earlier today.
Rufus was performing solo tonight. But I didn't missed his band at all. His music and his boys were outstanding. Santa Barbara thoroughly enjoyed and welcomed Rufus Wainwright tonight.
You still have a chance to catch him on Thursday in Riverside.
