Today was a cold and crisp morning in Southern California. I needed to turn on my front and rear defrosters is in order to see out of my car windows. It was still a routine start to a work day and the concept of "Happy New Year" already seems such a distant memory. Still, when I reach the top of Via Verde I was surprised when and I saw the snow that had been laid on the mountaintops overnight. I exclaimed, "Wow" so loudly that I startled myself. I looked around the car to see who had said it.
